India Survey: 12% Report Being Scammed in Last Year

A recent survey by GSMA reveals that 12% of respondents in India reported being scammed in the past 12 months, a higher figure than the 8% reported in the Asean-6 region. Online shopping scams were the most common in India at 33%, followed by prize and job scams. Messaging apps were the most frequent route for scams, used in 42% of cases involving Indian victims. Globally, one trillion dollars were lost to scams in 2024, with 50% of consumers reporting exposure.

GSMA के हालिया सर्वे से पता चला है कि भारत में 12% लोगों ने पिछले 12 महीनों में स्कैम का शिकार होने की बात बताई है, जो आसियान-6 क्षेत्र के 8% से ज़्यादा है। भारत में सबसे आम ऑनलाइन शॉपिंग स्कैम थे, जो 33% थे, इसके बाद प्राइज और जॉब स्कैम आए। स्कैम के लिए मैसेजिंग ऐप्स सबसे ज़्यादा इस्तेमाल हुए, जो भारतीय पीड़ितों के 42% मामलों में सामने आए। 2024 में दुनिया भर में स्कैम से एक ट्रिलियन डॉलर का नुकसान हुआ, और 50% ग्राहकों ने इसके संपर्क में आने की बात कही।
