Opposition leaders have strongly criticized the central government following the arrest of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The duo was protesting at Jantar Mantar against the Chief Election Commissioner and were subsequently sent to five days of judicial custody. Leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal questioned the legality of arresting individuals for waving the Indian flag during peaceful demonstrations. Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee described the situation as “BJP’s new Pakistanified Bharat,” while MK Stalin offered legal support to the arrested leaders.
