Mumbai University May De-Affiliate Law Colleges Due To Staff Shortage
Times of India · education
Mumbai University is considering de-affiliating law colleges that have not recruited approved staff, including principals and assistant professors, by a Bombay High Court-mandated deadline. This action follows a self-operative court order from August, based on an undertaking from defaulting colleges. While 50 law colleges were previously penalised with reduced intake, only 21 challenged this in court and may face de-affiliation. Colleges cited a lack of eligible candidates and low interest in joining as reasons for the staff shortage. The case is scheduled for a hearing on Monday.
