India's $1.5 Trillion Wealth Transfer to Reshape Investment Landscape
Economic Times Markets · stocks
India is poised for a significant investment shift as an estimated $1.5 trillion in household wealth is expected to transfer between generations. Ganesh Mohan, MD of Bajaj Asset Management, highlighted this intergenerational wealth transfer as a major socio-cultural mega trend. This transfer from older to younger Indians could boost financialisation and alter asset allocation strategies. Younger generations, who currently control a small fraction of wealth despite forming a large population segment, are expected to drive demand for financial assets and diversified portfolios, potentially surpassing foreign investor inflows.
