Madras HC Slams HR&CE Dept for Delayed Action Against Erring Officer

The Madras High Court has strongly criticized the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department for its delayed action in 2011 against an Executive Officer (EO). The EO, R. Jayakumar, allegedly colluded with tenants to allow permanent constructions on temple lands and failed to cancel private patta for temple properties. The court noted that the HR&CE Commissioner at the time did not take the complaints seriously, leading to prolonged illegalities.

मद्रास हाईकोर्ट ने तमिलनाडु हिंदू धार्मिक और धर्मार्थ बंदोबस्त (HR&CE) विभाग की 2011 में एक कार्यकारी अधिकारी (EO) के खिलाफ देरी से कार्रवाई करने पर कड़ी आलोचना की है। EO, आर. जयकुमार पर कथित तौर पर किरायेदारों के साथ मिलीभगत कर मंदिर की जमीन पर स्थायी निर्माण की अनुमति देने और मंदिर की संपत्तियों के लिए निजी पट्टा रद्द करने में विफल रहने का आरोप है। अदालत ने कहा कि उस समय HR&CE आयुक्त ने शिकायतों को गंभीरता से नहीं लिया, जिससे लंबे समय तक अवैधता बनी रही।
