Ballari to Build Subsurface Dams to Boost Water

Ballari district administration plans to construct subsurface check dams to improve groundwater levels amid rainfall deficits. These dams will be built beneath riverbeds to retain moisture and enhance groundwater recharge, offering relief to the agriculture sector. The Vedavathi River is a potential site for the first project. Officials are discussing designs and feasibility with engineers from Andhra Pradesh, where similar projects have succeeded. The district aims to build 15 such dams, estimated to cost between Rs 40 crore and Rs 50 crore.

बारिश की कमी को देखते हुए बल्लारी जिला प्रशासन ने भूजल स्तर को बेहतर बनाने के लिए सबसरफेस चेक डैम बनाने की योजना बनाई है। ये बांध नदी तल के नीचे बनाए जाएंगे ताकि नमी बनी रहे और भूजल पुनर्भरण बढ़े, जिससे कृषि क्षेत्र को राहत मिलेगी। वेडावती नदी पहले प्रोजेक्ट के लिए एक संभावित जगह है। अधिकारी आंध्र प्रदेश के इंजीनियरों के साथ डिजाइन और व्यवहार्यता पर चर्चा कर रहे हैं, जहां इसी तरह की परियोजनाओं को सफलता मिली है। जिले का लक्ष्य 15 ऐसे बांध बनाना है, जिनकी अनुमानित लागत 40 करोड़ रुपये से 50 करोड़ रुपये के बीच होगी।
