HPCL Faces tanker Booking Challenges for Crude Shipments via Strait of Hormuz
Business Standard · business
Indian oil refiner Hindustan Petroleum Corp. (HPCL) is experiencing difficulties in securing tankers for crude oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Chairman Vikas Kaushal stated that while crude supply from the region is increasing, the availability of freighters and last-minute cancellations by shipowners are hindering operations. HPCL's success in transits has been varied, though they can still procure supplies from outside the chokepoint. The company's Middle East oil purchases had significantly dropped in April but recovered substantially in May.
