CAQM Reviews Farm Fire Control Measures With Punjab & Haryana Govts

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) held review meetings with Punjab and Haryana governments to assess measures against paddy stubble burning and other air pollution sources. Discussions focused on the implementation of state action plans, district-level preparedness, and monitoring mechanisms. The availability and utilization of crop residue management machinery were reviewed, alongside efforts to strengthen the supply chain for paddy straw. The commission also emphasized field validation of burnt areas using satellite alerts and drones, and compliance with directives for biomass utilization in brick kilns and thermal power plants.
