Farm Drought Inspires Water Recharge Filter

Michael Sadanand Baptist developed a self-cleaning filter called Rainy to address his farm's drought in 2001. This system, along with V-Wire technology, separates dirt from rainwater and channels it underground to recharge aquifers. So far, 10,000 Rainy Filters have helped percolate 10 million litres, and V-Wire technology has recharged 35 million cubic metres through 15,000 wells. Infosys' Chennai campus saw a 50% freshwater use reduction using 165 recharge wells.
