Mumbai Couple Used Drug Proceeds To Buy Properties, ED Alleges

A Mumbai couple allegedly trafficked 80 kg of mephedrone (MD) monthly since 2022, laundering proceeds through real estate, shell firms, and relatives' accounts, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) stated. They are accused of paying Rs 70 lakh for two flats valued at Rs 2.2 crore, despite construction approvals only up to the 19.5th floor. The ED has identified proceeds of crime worth approximately Rs 10.62 crore, including attached properties, cash, and gold. The case stems from Narcotics Control Bureau seizures, identifying the couple as key figures in drug distribution.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ED) ने बताया कि मुंबई के एक जोड़े पर कथित तौर पर 2022 से हर महीने 80 किलो मेथेड्रोन (MD) की तस्करी करने और रियल एस्टेट, शेल कंपनियों और रिश्तेदारों के खातों के ज़रिए पैसा ठिकाने लगाने का आरोप है। उन पर दो फ्लैट के लिए 70 लाख रुपये का भुगतान करने का आरोप है, जिनकी कीमत 2.2 करोड़ रुपये है, जबकि निर्माण की मंज़ूरी केवल 19.5वीं मंजिल तक ही थी। ED ने लगभग 10.62 करोड़ रुपये की अपराध की कमाई की पहचान की है, जिसमें अटैच की गई प्रॉपर्टीज़, नकदी और सोना शामिल है। यह मामला नारकोटिक्स कंट्रोल ब्यूरो की ज़ब्ती से जुड़ा है, जिसने जोड़े को ड्रग्स वितरण में मुख्य व्यक्ति बताया है।
