Times of India · technology
Russia has unveiled its Shturm unmanned heavy assault robotic system, based on the T-72 tank, designed for breaching defenses and urban combat. This remotely operated vehicle, developed over 15 years, operates with a crewed command vehicle. The Indian Army is also converting its T-72 tanks into remotely operated vehicles through a new IP-based interface. These unmanned tanks are intended for high-risk missions like minefield breaching and reconnaissance. India aims to enhance combat power and crew survivability by repurposing legacy armor, aligning with its indigenous defense innovation goals.
