North Carolina Judge Blocks Amphitheater on Protected Farmland
Times of India · environment
A North Carolina judge has halted plans for a 2,500-seat amphitheater on 187 acres of protected farmland in Orange County. Superior Court Judge John Morris granted summary judgment to the Triangle Land Conservancy (TLC), preventing development on land subject to a conservation easement signed nearly 30 years ago. The farm owner, Greg Bohlen, had proposed the venue, but the conservancy argued it violated the agreement designed to protect agricultural productivity and open spaces. The ruling effectively ends the prospect of a jury trial, though an appeal is possible.
