Rupee Falls As Crude Oil Prices Surge

The Indian rupee depreciated by 28 paise to close at 96.03 against the US dollar on Monday. This decline was driven by risk-off sentiments in global markets following the US rejection of Iran's deal proposal. The ongoing stalemate between the US and Iran has diminished hopes of reopening the Strait of Hormuz, leading to deteriorating global risk sentiments. Rising crude oil prices, which jumped over 3 percent toward $108 a barrel, are expected to continue pressuring the rupee and adding to inflation concerns.
