Pune's Ganapati visarjan celebrations saw extreme noise levels, with sound reaching 115.4 dB, comparable to a jet engine. Monitoring by CoEP Technological University recorded average levels of 104.5 dB along immersion routes. Several mandals openly defied noise regulations, using banned plasma sound systems and modified speakers, despite warnings from authorities. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board reported violations exceeding permissible limits by up to 40 dB(A). This excessive noise caused significant disruption and traffic congestion across the city.
