Amazon Threatens to Cut 5,000 NYC Delivery Jobs Over Labour Bill

Amazon has warned it may close over a dozen warehouses and relocate thousands of delivery jobs from New York City if Mayor Zohran Mamdani's labour bill passes. The proposed legislation would require Amazon to directly employ approximately 5,000 delivery drivers currently working for third-party contractors. Experts caution Amazon might follow through, citing its closure of facilities in Canada over similar logistics model disputes. Supporters believe the bill will improve wages and safety standards for delivery providers.
