Jajpur Admin Seeks Nod For Park Near Heritage

The Jajpur district administration has requested clearance from the National Monuments Authority (NMA) to resume construction of a park near the Udayagiri Buddhist archaeological site. Work was halted by the Archaeological Survey of India due to heritage protection regulations, which mandate prohibited and regulated zones around protected monuments. An affidavit was filed in the Orissa High Court in response to a PIL alleging the park posed a threat to the site. The administration stated construction will only proceed upon receiving statutory permission and adhering to all heritage laws.
