The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has formally taken over the investigation into the murder of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota in Mansa, Punjab. Jhota was shot dead on October 13 while livestreaming a confrontation over alleged illegal drug sales. A specialised CBI team, including forensic experts, has arrived in Mansa to examine case files and record statements. The autopsy will now be conducted at PGI, Chandigarh, after the family's demands were met. The killing has intensified political scrutiny in Punjab ahead of upcoming assembly elections.

केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (CBI) ने पंजाब के मानसा में नशीले पदार्थों के खिलाफ लड़ने वाले कार्यकर्ता परविंदर सिंह झोटा की हत्या के मामले की जांच औपचारिक रूप से अपने हाथ में ले ली है। झोटा को 13 अक्टूबर को कथित अवैध नशीले पदार्थों की बिक्री को लेकर हुई एक झड़प का लाइव-स्ट्रीमिंग करते समय गोली मार दी गई थी। फोरेंसिक विशेषज्ञों सहित CBI की एक विशेष टीम ने मामले की फाइलों की जांच करने और बयान दर्ज करने के लिए मानसा का दौरा किया है। परिवार की मांगों को पूरा करने के बाद अब शव का पोस्टमार्टम चंडीगढ़ के PGI में किया जाएगा। इस हत्या ने आगामी विधानसभा चुनावों से पहले पंजाब में राजनीतिक जांच को तेज कर दिया है।
