California has completed a significant 3,400-acre habitat restoration project in the Delta, marking the largest tidal restoration in the region. This initiative, part of the EcoRestore program targeting over 30,000 acres, aims to revive critical ecosystems and support fish populations like salmon and Delta smelt. The project, completed on September 18, 2024, involved restoring tidal flows to the area for the first time in a century. It also provides 100-year flood protection for Central Valley communities and enhances flood storage capacity.
