Afghanistan's Taliban authorities detained 52 women and one girl between July and September for alleged dress code violations and appearing in public without a male guardian. Reasons included wearing makeup, colourful scarves, or leaving hair visible, according to the UNAMA. The detentions, reported in Kabul and Herat, have raised concerns about unreported cases due to safety fears and stigma. UNAMA also reported verbal abuse and beatings against women, highlighting the Taliban's strict enforcement of their Law on the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
