Foreign Investors Withdraw ₹48,056 Crore From Indian Equities in October

Business Standard Markets · stocks

Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) have withdrawn ₹48,056 crore from Indian equities in October, driven by elevated oil prices, Middle East tensions, inflation concerns, and weak corporate earnings. This follows September's net withdrawals of ₹35,861 crore. Cumulative FPI outflows in 2026 have now reached ₹3.08 lakh crore, surpassing the entire year 2025's withdrawals. Despite significant selling, FPIs moderated their outflows last week, becoming net buyers on two days, potentially due to declining US bond yields and an appreciating rupee. Domestic institutional investors and SIPs have helped cushion the selling pressure.
