Calcutta HC hears plea for access to 136-year-old Kolkata airport mosque

The Calcutta High Court has begun hearing a case concerning access to the 136-year-old Bankra mosque located within Kolkata airport. The mosque committee is seeking an interim order to allow prayers while the matter is pending. Airport authorities had restricted entry from July 11, citing security concerns from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Previously, around 70 devotees were allowed daily after showing Aadhaar cards. The Airports Authority of India will present its arguments against the interim relief on the next hearing date, October 7.

कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट कोलकाता एयरपोर्ट के अंदर स्थित 136 साल पुरानी बैंकरा मस्जिद तक पहुँच को लेकर एक मामले की सुनवाई कर रहा है। मस्जिद समिति मामले के लंबित रहने के दौरान नमाज़ की अनुमति के लिए एक अंतरिम आदेश की मांग कर रही है। एयरपोर्ट अधिकारियों ने ब्यूरो ऑफ सिविल एविएशन सिक्योरिटी से सुरक्षा चिंताओं का हवाला देते हुए 11 जुलाई से प्रवेश प्रतिबंधित कर दिया था। पहले, आधार कार्ड दिखाकर प्रतिदिन लगभग 70 श्रद्धालुओं को अनुमति दी जाती थी। एयरपोर्ट अथॉरिटी ऑफ इंडिया अगली सुनवाई की तारीख, 7 अक्टूबर को अंतरिम राहत के खिलाफ अपनी दलीलें पेश करेगी।
