The Madhya Pradesh High Court's Jabalpur bench has dismissed a petition filed by the Union government challenging a Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order. The CAT had directed the government to conduct an Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre review within 120 days. The Madhya Pradesh Police Association had approached the CAT, arguing that cadre reviews, mandatory every five years, had been delayed for two decades. This delay, they contended, deprived eligible state police officers of promotion and induction into the IPS, violating their constitutional rights.
