The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has prohibited the operation of fuel-powered motorboats and jet skis on Dal Lake until further notice. A division bench issued the directive while hearing a petition concerning pollution in the lake. Authorities have been instructed to strictly enforce the ban, with violations considered contempt of court. The court emphasized the need to protect the lake's ecosystem and suggested solar or electric boats as alternatives. The government is exploring replacing conventional engines with eco-friendly options, with the next hearing scheduled for October 30.

जम्मू और कश्मीर हाईकोर्ट ने अगली सूचना तक डल झील में फ्यूल-पावर्ड मोटरबोट और जेट स्की चलाने पर रोक लगा दी है। एक डिवीज़न बेंच ने झील में प्रदूषण से जुड़ी एक याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए यह निर्देश जारी किया। अधिकारियों को सख़्ती से इस प्रतिबंध को लागू करने का निर्देश दिया गया है, उल्लंघन को अदालत की अवमानना माना जाएगा। अदालत ने झील के पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र को बचाने की ज़रूरत पर ज़ोर दिया और सौर या इलेक्ट्रिक नावों को विकल्प के तौर पर सुझाया। सरकार पारंपरिक इंजनों को पर्यावरण-अनुकूल विकल्पों से बदलने पर विचार कर रही है, अगली सुनवाई 30 अक्टूबर को तय है।
