Dolphins Delight in Ganga River, New Conservation Efforts Underway
News18 Hindi · india
The Bhagalpur Dolphin Sanctuary area in India is witnessing increased dolphin activity as the Ganga River's water levels rise. Visitors can observe dolphins playing between Sultanganj and Bateshwar Sthan, particularly during sunrise and late afternoon. To enhance conservation, a new initiative proposes installing 'Bajar' devices on boats. These sensors will alert boatmen when dolphins are near, allowing them to slow down or change course, thus protecting the endangered aquatic animals. The dolphin population has grown to approximately 210, up from 178 in 2018, indicating successful conservation efforts.
