India is poised for a significant technological transformation, driven by advancements in artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, semiconductors, and clean energy, according to Atomic Energy Commission chairman Ajit Kumar Mohanty. Speaking at the Birla Institute of Technology convocation, he highlighted that a developed India requires strong indigenous capabilities, skilled professionals, and sustained research. Mohanty pointed to milestones in India's nuclear program as examples of deep scientific prowess built over decades. He emphasized the growing importance of interdisciplinary science and engineering to address societal needs in energy, healthcare, and environmental conservation.
