ए.आई.ए.डी.एम.के. नेता ई. के. पलानीस्वामी ने तमिलनाडु सरकार की नई सचिवालय बनाने की योजना की आलोचना की है। उन्होंने राज्य के भारी कर्ज पर जोर दिया, कहा कि सरकार ने पहले चार महीनों में ही ₹40,000 करोड़ का कर्ज लिया है। पलानीस्वामी ने वित्तीय तंगी को देखते हुए इस निर्माण की आवश्यकता पर सवाल उठाया। उन्होंने मछली पकड़ने वाले समुदाय और यातायात जाम पर इसके प्रभाव के कारण पट्टिनपक्कम स्थल पर पुनर्विचार का भी आग्रह किया।
