This action follows a Supreme Court order that directed the freeze of the civic chief's salary due to non-compliance with previous directions. The demolition occurred on a 3,400-square-metre plot, which has been the subject of a prolonged legal dispute. The apex court had previously ordered a private developer to hand over the land, free of encroachments, to the BMC.
