Dhanteras shopping caused severe traffic congestion across Delhi, with major roads, highways, and market areas experiencing long queues of vehicles. Commuters faced significant delays, with short journeys taking hours due to the surge in shoppers heading to markets like Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar. Traffic was particularly bad on routes connecting to popular shopping destinations and major highways, including the Delhi-Gurugram route. The sheer volume of people and vehicles in narrow market streets exacerbated the gridlock, impacting travel across various parts of the capital.
