Skandamata: The Mother Who Nurtures Independence
Times of India · spirituality
The fifth day of Navratri celebrates Skandamata, a mother who embodies nurturing independence. Similar to how mitochondria convert energy to power life, mothers transform a child's potential into capacity through love and guidance. Modern biology shows mitochondria form dynamic networks, mirroring how wise mothers adjust their support, holding close when needed and loosening their grip for independence. This maternal principle, larger than gender, involves empowering others without imprisoning them. The essence is becoming less visible as another life becomes more capable.
