Rupee Stabilises in H1 FY27 After Significant Fall in Previous Financial Year

Business Standard · stocks

The Indian rupee has shown relative stability in the first half of FY27, depreciating by only 1.1% after a substantial 9.9% fall in FY26. This stabilisation is attributed to regulatory interventions and measures to attract foreign capital, implemented after the rupee dropped 4% in March due to the West Asia conflict. Despite this improvement, the rupee remains one of the weaker Asian currencies in H1FY27. Global factors like Brent crude prices and rising US Treasury yields continue to influence the currency's performance.
