Telangana Welfare Board Under Vigilance Probe; 2 Officials Suspended

The Telangana government has initiated a comprehensive vigilance inquiry into claims processed by the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board since 2018, following allegations of widespread irregularities. Two officials have already been suspended based on preliminary findings. Labour Minister Vivek Venkataswamy stated the investigation will examine compensation claim irregularities and aims to improve transparency and safeguard workers' welfare funds. The department also plans to recover pending labour cess dues from companies and builders.

तेलंगाना सरकार ने 2018 से बिल्डिंग एंड अदर कंस्ट्रक्शन वर्कर्स वेलफेयर बोर्ड द्वारा प्रोसेस किए गए दावों की व्यापक विजिलेंस जांच शुरू की है, क्योंकि बड़े पैमाने पर अनियमितताओं के आरोप लगे हैं। प्रारंभिक निष्कर्षों के आधार पर दो अधिकारियों को पहले ही निलंबित कर दिया गया है। श्रम मंत्री विवेक वेंकटस्वामी ने कहा कि जांच में मुआवजा दावे की अनियमितताओं की जांच की जाएगी और इसका उद्देश्य पारदर्शिता में सुधार करना और श्रमिकों के कल्याण कोष की सुरक्षा करना है। विभाग कंपनियों और बिल्डरों से लंबित लेबर सेस बकाया की वसूली की भी योजना बना रहा है।
