Assam SIT to Challenge Supreme Court Against Bail for Two Accused in Zubeen Garg Death

SIT plans to approach the Supreme Court to contest the bail granted to Amritprabha Mahanta and Sandipan Garg. Both are accused in the death of singer Zubeen Garg. The Gauhati High Court had granted bail to Mahanta, Garg's co-singer, on October 9, 2026, and to Garg, his cousin, on October 16, 2026. SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta stated that legal opinions were sought before deciding to move the apex court.

एसआईटी ने अमृतप्रभा महंत और संदीपान गर्ग को मिली ज़मानत को चुनौती देने के लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट जाने की योजना बनाई है। दोनों पर गायक ज़ुबिन गर्ग की मौत का आरोप है। गौहाटी हाई कोर्ट ने महंत, जो गर्ग के सह-गायक हैं, को 9 अक्टूबर 2026 को और गर्ग, जो उनके चचेरे भाई हैं, को 16 अक्टूबर 2026 को ज़मानत दी थी। एसआईटी प्रमुख मुन्ना प्रसाद गुप्ता ने कहा कि शीर्ष अदालत जाने का फैसला करने से पहले कानूनी राय ली गई थी।
