The Indian Embassy in Rome has urged Indian nationals in Italy to exercise caution and avoid crowded areas due to ongoing protests and demonstrations. While initial demonstrations against the rising cost of living began peacefully, some cities saw rioters clash with police, loot stores, and set property ablaze. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni condemned the violence, stating that while demonstrating is a right, setting cities ablaze is not. The embassy provided emergency contact numbers for its offices in Rome and Milan.
