Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have injected Rs 21,715 crore into Indian equities over the last ten days, signalling a potential reversal of foreign investor sentiment. This inflow coincides with strengthening domestic growth and corporate earnings that have surpassed expectations, with profit after tax growing significantly year-on-year. Global brokerage Nomura suggests FIIs may be nearing the end of their selling spree, noting moderating outflows and attractive valuations. Potential tax reforms, including a review of long-term capital gains tax, could further boost investor confidence.
