Haryana Power Discoms Challenge Parallel Licence Grant to Private Firm
The Hindu · india
State-owned power distribution companies in Haryana have filed a review petition with the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC), challenging the parallel distribution licence granted to a private company. They argue the licence violates the Electricity Act, 2003, and statutory rules, and question HERC's reliance on an Expert Committee's findings. Meanwhile, power employees' associations have filed caveats before the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, seeking to prevent ex-parte orders and advocating for the revocation of the parallel licence. They warn of nationwide protests if privatisation policies are imposed.
