Chit Fund Fraud Accused Mobbed Outside AP High Court After Withdrawing Bail Pleas

Scores of victims of a Rs 42-crore chit fund fraud surrounded the owners of Durga Bhavani Chits, Goli Srinivasa Rao and his son Bhavani Shankar, outside the Andhra Pradesh high court. The duo had withdrawn their anticipatory bail petitions after the court indicated it was not inclined to grant them relief. Special protection force personnel intervened as the crowd attempted to stop them from leaving. Thullur police later shifted them to the police station with protection. The incident occurred after around 300 people, mostly victims, gathered at the court.

42 करोड़ रुपये के चिट फंड धोखाधड़ी के शिकार हुए कई लोगों ने दुर्गा भवानी चिट्स के मालिकों, गोली श्रीनिवास राव और उनके बेटे भवानी शंकर को आंध्र प्रदेश हाई कोर्ट के बाहर घेर लिया। अदालत द्वारा राहत देने में अनिच्छा जताए जाने के बाद दोनों ने अपनी अग्रिम जमानत याचिकाएं वापस ले ली थीं। भीड़ ने उन्हें रोकने की कोशिश की तो विशेष सुरक्षा बल के कर्मियों ने हस्तक्षेप किया। थुल्लूर पुलिस ने बाद में उन्हें सुरक्षा के साथ पुलिस स्टेशन स्थानांतरित कर दिया। यह घटना तब हुई जब अदालत में लगभग 300 लोग, जिनमें ज्यादातर पीड़ित थे, जमा हुए थे।
