Supreme Court Questions CJP Protest Without Permission

Times of India · politics

The Supreme Court questioned the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Friday about why they had not challenged the Delhi Police's denial of permission for their October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar. A bench led by the Chief Justice of India stated that an unlawful protest could lead to prosecution. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal argued for the right to protest, even spontaneously. The court indicated it might ease restrictions if organizers challenged the denial and provided assurances about peaceful conduct and numbers.
