Hundreds of Ethiopians, primarily women and children, have crossed into Kenya seeking refuge from regional fighting in the border town of Moyale. Kenyan police reported the influx through multiple entry points, stating the tensions stemmed from a dispute over raising the flag of the majority-Somali state. The Kenya Red Cross is establishing temporary shelters and distributing essential supplies to an initial 1,000 households. This conflict is distinct from the larger war in Ethiopia's northern Tigray region.
