Madras High Court Orders Passport Disposal For Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Convict Perarivalan

The Madras High Court has directed the Chennai regional passport office to process and dispose of the passport application of A G Perarivalan, a former life convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, within four weeks. The court noted that Perarivalan has been set at liberty by the Supreme Court. Justice P T Asha stated that the passport authority's reluctance to process the application, citing a pending police report, was incorrect.

मद्रास हाईकोर्ट ने चेन्नई क्षेत्रीय पासपोर्ट कार्यालय को राजीव गांधी हत्याकांड के पूर्व आजीवन कैदी ए जी पेरारिवलन के पासपोर्ट आवेदन को चार हफ्तों के अंदर प्रोसेस करने और निपटाने का निर्देश दिया है। कोर्ट ने कहा कि पेरारिवलन को सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने रिहा कर दिया है। जस्टिस पी टी आशा ने कहा कि पुलिस रिपोर्ट लंबित होने का हवाला देकर पासपोर्ट अथॉरिटी का आवेदन प्रोसेस करने में हिचकिचाना गलत था।
