कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार मिलन प्रधान ने बुधवार को अंतरिम जमानत पर रिहा होने के कुछ घंटे बाद नंदग्राम उपचुनाव के लिए अपना प्रचार अभियान शुरू किया। उन्हें 2007 के हत्या के मामलों के संबंध में 18 सितंबर को गिरफ्तार किया गया था। प्रधान का आरोप है कि गिरफ्तारी से पहले उन पर अपना नामांकन वापस लेने का दबाव डाला गया था। कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट ने उन्हें 20 अक्टूबर तक जमानत दे दी, और देरी से हुई गिरफ्तारी पर आश्चर्य व्यक्त किया। बंगाल सरकार ने कई वारंट वाले आरोपी को जमानत देने के खिलाफ तर्क देते हुए इस फैसले के खिलाफ सुप्रीम कोर्ट में अपील की है।
