Govt Says Coal Stocks Improving At Power Plants Amid Shortage Reports

Times of India · business

The Indian government stated on Friday that daily coal supplies to the power sector have increased by approximately 36% since September, with stock depletion rates significantly moderating. The coal ministry clarified that a 'critical stock' tag is an early warning, not an indicator of imminent shutdown. As of, 87 out of 190 coal-fired power plants had critical stocks, down from earlier figures. With monsoon receding, peak power demand is expected to decrease, aiding further stabilization and stock rebuilding.
