Uttarakhand Bans Gutka, Pan Masala For One Year Over Health Concerns

The Uttarakhand government has imposed a one-year ban on the manufacture, storage, sale, and distribution of gutka, pan masala, and other food products containing tobacco or nicotine. This decision, effective from October 13, 2026, was issued by the food safety and drug administration commissioner citing public health concerns. The ban applies to all such products marketed under any name, as tobacco and nicotine are prohibited ingredients in food items.

उत्तराखंड सरकार ने गुटखा, पान मसाला और तंबाकू या निकोटीन युक्त अन्य खाद्य उत्पादों के निर्माण, भंडारण, बिक्री और वितरण पर एक साल का प्रतिबंध लगा दिया है। यह निर्णय, जो 13 अक्टूबर 2026 से प्रभावी है, खाद्य सुरक्षा और औषधि प्रशासन आयुक्त द्वारा सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य चिंताओं का हवाला देते हुए जारी किया गया था। यह प्रतिबंध किसी भी नाम से बेचे जाने वाले ऐसे सभी उत्पादों पर लागू होता है, क्योंकि तंबाकू और निकोटीन खाद्य पदार्थों में निषिद्ध सामग्री हैं।
