UK Supreme Court Hears Challenge Against Palestine Action's Terrorist Designation
Al Jazeera · world
The UK's highest court is hearing an appeal against the government's decision to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation. The direct action group was banned last year, a move criticised by rights groups like Amnesty International and Liberty. Cofounder Huda Ammori argues the ban infringes on freedom of speech and the right to protest. Demonstrators gathered outside the court, with around 25 arrested. Amnesty International stated the government is misusing terrorism powers and called for the ban to be lifted.
