Hindustan Times · environment

Eight wild buffaloes, relocated from Assam's Kaziranga National Park, have been introduced into an enclosure at Madhya Pradesh's Kanha Tiger Reserve. This marks a significant step in the state's nearly 100-year effort to reintroduce the species. The buffaloes, comprising six females and two males, completed their quarantine period before being moved to a larger enclosure. The program aims to strengthen biodiversity and restore the species to its historical habitat, with a target of establishing a population of 50 within three years.
