Delhi Jal Board to Monetise Biogas From Sewage Plants

Hindustan Times · business

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) plans to commercially utilise biogas generated from sewage treatment plants by partnering with private firms. These companies will purchase raw biogas for processing into power generation or vehicle fuel. Initially, this initiative will be implemented at two sewage treatment plants: Keshopur Phase-I and Yamuna Vihar Phase-II. The DJB will provide land within the plant premises, while selected firms will manage the setup and operation of their processing facilities. This move aims to reduce flaring and underutilisation of generated biogas.
