Power of Attorney Not Superior to Registry, Gift Deed, or Will

A Power of Attorney (PoA) document does not automatically grant ownership rights, as clarified by the Supreme Court. It merely empowers an individual to act as a representative for another person in property or financial matters. While a PoA allows someone to manage property, collect rent, or handle registrations, it is not a substitute for a property registry. The Supreme Court has affirmed that registry is the primary means for property transfer. Consequently, a PoA holds less legal weight than a registry, gift deed, or will in determining property ownership.
