Cyclone Arnab Rains Couldn't Stop Children Walking 15km For School Building

Times of India · education

Children from a tribal village in Chhattisgarh's Gariaband district braved cyclone-induced rain and wind to walk 15km. They marched to demand the completion of their school building, highlighting that over 30 students are forced to study in a single classroom. An additional classroom was sanctioned for Rs 8.32 lakh under the previous government, but construction remains incomplete despite payments to the contractor. This protest brings renewed attention to school infrastructure issues in the Mainpur block, with questions raised about project execution under the School Jatan scheme.
