Maldives President Muizzu Calls For Early SAARC Summit During Pakistan Visit

Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has called for an early convening of the SAARC summit during his visit to Pakistan, stating Male is ready to work with other member states. The summit has been stalled since 2016, with India maintaining that regional cooperation is contingent on Pakistan creating an environment free of terror. Muizzu's visit also saw the signing of 20 MoUs between Maldives and Pakistan, including in defence and maritime cooperation.

मालदीव के राष्ट्रपति मोहम्मद मुइज्जू ने पाकिस्तान की अपनी यात्रा के दौरान SAARC शिखर सम्मेलन को जल्द बुलाने की मांग की है। उन्होंने कहा कि मालदीव अन्य सदस्य देशों के साथ काम करने के लिए तैयार है। यह शिखर सम्मेलन 2016 से रुका हुआ है, भारत का कहना है कि क्षेत्रीय सहयोग पाकिस्तान द्वारा आतंकवाद मुक्त माहौल बनाने पर निर्भर करता है। मुइज्जू की यात्रा के दौरान मालदीव और पाकिस्तान के बीच रक्षा और समुद्री सहयोग सहित 20 MoUs पर हस्ताक्षर भी हुए।
