Paul Allen's $100 Million Brain Research Initiative Completes Mouse Gene Atlas

Times of India · science

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen committed $100 million in 2003 to establish the Allen Institute for Brain Science. Three years later, the institute announced the completion of the Allen Brain Atlas, a detailed 3D map of gene activity across the mouse brain. This project mapped over 21,000 genes at the cellular level and made the data freely available online. Scientists worldwide can now access this information to study brain functions and disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
