A recent UDISE+ report revealed that 2,335 primary schools in Gujarat are operating with only one teacher, impacting approximately 80,053 students. The Gujarat Education Department issued show-cause notices to district education officials for administrative failure and negligence. However, district officials stated they lack the authority for teacher transfers or replacements, attributing such decisions to the state government. The Primary Education Director clarified that temporary arrangements exist for zero-teacher schools, and the government is hiring permanent teachers and closing schools with no enrollment.

हाल की UDISE+ रिपोर्ट से पता चला है कि गुजरात में 2,335 प्राथमिक स्कूल केवल एक शिक्षक के साथ चल रहे हैं, जिससे लगभग 80,053 छात्र प्रभावित हुए हैं। गुजरात शिक्षा विभाग ने प्रशासनिक विफलता और लापरवाही के लिए जिला शिक्षा अधिकारियों को कारण बताओ नोटिस जारी किया है। हालांकि, जिला अधिकारियों ने कहा कि उनके पास शिक्षक स्थानांतरण या प्रतिस्थापन का अधिकार नहीं है, और ऐसे निर्णय राज्य सरकार द्वारा लिए जाते हैं। प्राथमिक शिक्षा निदेशक ने स्पष्ट किया कि शून्य-शिक्षक स्कूलों के लिए अस्थायी व्यवस्थाएं हैं, और सरकार स्थायी शिक्षकों की भर्ती कर रही है और नामांकन न होने वाले स्कूलों को बंद कर रही है।
